December 2007 - California Board Life’s skate lesson program, ran in conjunction with the City of Folsom has been ranked as one of California’s top beginner skateboarding lesson programs. The lesson program started by professional skateboarding instructor Brian Owens in 2002 has grown from a small program offering just a couple of classes per year, to a year-round program with 100’s of students. The programs popularity has prompted new class offerings for 2008. When asked about program growth, Brian Owens stated “in addition to offering more private lessons, classes for Dads and longboarding lessons, this year we will have a home-school option that will accommodate PE requirements for home-schooled students”. Thanks to the support from CBL customers/friends, I’m Finally back to work at CBL! A very special thanks to Dan, Cassy, Nelson, Struan, Alex and Dr. Coward and his staff. An unexpected complication with my knee surgery put me out for an additional 8 days but I’m on my way to a full recovery, and I’m HAPPY to be on the road back to extreme sport participation. This was my second reconstruction on the same knee and I wanted best knee surgeon in Sacramento to do the procedure. Dr. Coward successfully performed a complete ACL replacement, MCL repair and removed a portion of my meniscus disc. In the process he inserted some additional “hardware” in the knee and gave me a few new scares to show off. The surgery went great and I was really beginning to feel better when I developed an extremely painful blood clot in my calf muscle. The clot was far more painful than my knee and was focus for the 5-6 days as I waited for the wonderful daily injections of Lovenox to take effect. As the clot has dissolved, the pain has dissipated and my life is slowly getting back to normal. In this case the proverbial “price paid to play” was a bit more than I anticipated… but, whadda you gonna do? — It’s my lifestyle!!!!
